WOW MOP CLASSIC / GUIDE 02
The best character is one you want to keep playing. Look beyond a single ranking and consider your preferred combat style, group responsibilities, and the time you want to spend learning.
01. Decide on Your Role FirstTanks manage enemies and group pace; healers anticipate damage and conserve resources. Damage dealers still handle interrupts, control, and encounter assignments. Choose the responsibility you enjoy. |
02. Explore the Three Monk PathsBrewmaster is the tank specialization, Mistweaver is the healer, and Windwalker is melee DPS. These roles require different habits, so match your gear and ability choices to the role you actually play. |
03. Match Your Build to the ContentQuesting, dungeons, raids, and PvP do not always favor the same choices. Check the content and patch a starter build targets, and understand its key decisions before copying it. |
04. Start with Essential KeybindsKeep core attacks, interrupts, and defensive abilities within easy reach. Learn why each new ability matters as you add it; memorizing a damage sequence is only part of playing well. |
05. Test One Change at a TimeTry one talent or gear change in comparable encounters. Consider resource pressure, survival, and performance while moving alongside damage numbers. |
A Tip for New PlayersGet comfortable with one main specialization first. Tell your group when learning a second role and start in forgiving content; reliable execution matters more than a complicated setup you cannot yet manage. |
Version Note(This guide covers MoP Classic specializations. Retail talent trees and class rankings from other expansions do not transfer directly.) |
