WOW CLASSIC ERA / GUIDE 02
A strong start means choosing a character you enjoy playing for hours. Before following someone else’s damage rankings, consider your available time and preferred role.
01. Choose Your Community FirstCheck your friends’ faction and realm. Look at guild schedules and activities. Finding people who fit your playtime can matter more than a small character advantage. |
02. Decide What Role You WantThink about whether you enjoy tanking, healing or dealing damage. Multiple talent trees do not mean every raid group recruits each specialization equally. |
03. Check Faction RestrictionsIn Classic Era, Paladins belong to the Alliance and Shamans to the Horde. If either is your preferred class, choose your faction accordingly and check available race combinations. |
04. Read Racials in ContextRead racial abilities with your PvE and PvP goals in mind. One bonus is not universally best for every class. Enjoying your character’s appearance and starting zone also supports long-term motivation. |
05. Try Before CommittingTry a few classes in their starting areas. Notice whether you enjoy melee combat, spellcasting or pet management. Remember that the opening minutes do not reveal a class’s full toolkit. |
Practical TipNarrow your choice with three questions: Who will I play with, which role will I enjoy and how much time do I have? Then refine your race choice. |
Version Note(This guide uses Classic Era class rules. Do not apply TBC faction options or the Retail class roster to Era character creation.) |
