PATH OF EXILE 2 / GUIDE 05
Crafting is more useful when you know which stats you need. Start with an appropriate base and a budget, rather than spending every orb on one item.
01. Start with the Right BaseMake sure the weapon or armour type suits your build. Investing in a base you will not use is a poor start, even if you hope for valuable modifiers. |
02. Distinguish Basic Orb FunctionsBasic Transmutation upgrades normal to magic; Augmentation adds a magic modifier. Regal upgrades magic to rare and adds a modifier; Exalted adds a rare modifier. |
03. Review Each ResultYour previous investment does not require another attempt. If the resulting modifiers no longer suit your goal, stop rather than spending to justify earlier costs. |
04. Compare Crafting with BuyingIn a trade league, check the price of a comparable finished item. Several failed attempts may cost more than equipment that already solves your problem. |
05. Leave Risky Steps Until LastRead descriptions for corruption and effects that remove or replace modifiers. Avoid risking your only working equipment piece without a usable backup. |
Practical TipDecide your maximum spend before the first attempt. When you reach that limit, evaluate the result and stop. |
Patch and League Note(Scope note: These are basic orb functions, not a guaranteed crafting recipe. Special currency variants must be checked against their own item descriptions.) |
