PoE 1 Craft with a Clear Budget

Start PoE 1 crafting with a suitable base, modifier checks and a spending limit, then finish useful upgrades sensibly.

Start crafting with one need to solve rather than a perfect-item fantasy. A modest usable upgrade is often more valuable early on.

01. Write Down the Goal

Identify the need: life, resistance or weapon damage. Prioritise two or three essential properties instead of demanding every desirable stat.

02. Inspect the Base

Verify that the item type and item level suit your goal. Check possible modifiers before investing in an unsuitable base.

03. Check Available Modifier Space

Enable advanced item descriptions and inspect prefixes and suffixes. Confirm that the intended bench craft can actually be applied.

04. Read What the Craft Changes

Understand what your currency or crafting option preserves and changes. Do not randomly reroll an item that already works.

05. Set a Stopping Point

Set a total budget before starting. When a usable result appears, compare keeping it with the cost of another attempt.

Practical Tip

In trade leagues, check the price of a similar finished item; crafting is not always cheaper.

Important Note

(Corrupted, influenced and special items may have different crafting restrictions. Do not assume a general recipe works on every base.)
