WOW RETAIL / GUIDE 03
Gearing is more than increasing an item-level number. Consider how long an item will last, its contribution to set bonuses and the cost of upgrading it.
01. Identify Your Weakest SlotList the slots that are clearly behind. Evaluate weapons, trinkets and set pieces for your spec, since their contribution is not identical. |
02. Read the Upgrade TrackCheck an item’s track, current rank and upgrade limit. Read the vendor cost before investing heavily in something you expect to replace soon. |
03. Consider the Whole Tier SetCheck whether a replacement breaks an active set bonus. Before using the Catalyst, review the conversion result and decide which slot provides a meaningful benefit. |
04. Compare Weekly OptionsIf a Great Vault reward is available, review it before expensive crafting or upgrades. Compare options with your current gear and other rewards you expect to receive. |
05. Finish the UpgradeConsider suitable enchants and gems for lasting pieces. For damage decisions, use character-specific comparisons when possible rather than treating a general stat ranking as a final answer. |
Practical TipWrite down your next two gear targets so every new drop does not force you to rethink the entire plan. |
Important Note(With 12.1, Catalyst conversion preserves the source item’s secondary and tertiary stats. Review the result before confirming a conversion.) |
