Not every upgrade offers equal value. Identify your character's weakest slots first, then invest in pieces you are likely to keep.

01. List Your Weakest Slots

Check your weapon, trinkets, and noticeably weak slots. Raising average item level should not be your only goal; the item must support your main specialization.

02. Use the Timeless Isle as a Starting Point

Timeless armor tokens can become item level 496 gear for a suitable character. Check your loot specialization before using them, especially when saving tokens for an alternate character.

03. Use Burdens on Unopened Tokens

A Burden of Eternity creates item level 535 gear from an eligible unopened Timeless armor token. Do not open the token first; confirm eligibility and your loot specialization before using the Burden.

04. Choose Dungeon and Raid Targets

Treat Timeless pieces as a starting point. Compare current Celestial vendors and suitable raid rewards for set bonuses, weapons, and trinkets rather than filling every slot from one source.

05. Compare Before Upgrading

Consider gems, enchants, reforging, and item upgrades together. Check eligibility, cost, and remaining upgrades at the vendor before committing your currency to a piece you may soon replace.

Ask Before You Buy

Which weakness does this item address, and how long will I use it? If neither answer is clear, keeping your currency can be the better plan.
