A useful profession supports something you actually want to do. Decide whether your priority is earning gold, making supplies or producing specific equipment before committing materials and time.

01. Plan Your Two Primary Professions

Think about both primary profession slots together. Pairings such as Herbalism–Alchemy or Mining–Engineering can simplify material supply, but no single pairing is best for every character.

02. Develop Skills Along Your Route

Keep gathering skills reasonably aligned with your questing areas. Check shortages before buying large quantities. When crafting for skill gains, check whether the recipe can still provide them.

03. Buy Recipes for a Reason

An expensive rare recipe is not automatically profitable. Consider demand, material cost and personal use. Avoid committing a small starting budget to large stocks in an unfamiliar market.

04. Consider Secondary Professions

Cooking, Fishing and First Aid do not use your primary profession slots. Develop them according to your needs; there is no need to maximize everything immediately. Prioritize supplies you will actually use.

05. Compare Crafting with Buying

Materials you gather still have a market value. Compare the cost of crafting with buying the finished item. Before changing professions, account for lost skill progress and learned recipes.

Practical Tip

Start by reliably producing one useful item. A small, practical crafting routine can serve you better than an expensive collection of unused recipes.

Version Note

(Classic Era professions generally have a 300 skill cap, with racial bonuses potentially affecting skill. Do not assume Retail profession specializations or crafting orders exist in Era.)
